Mehmood Nathani, Principal
Mehmood Nathani, CFA, CFP®, is the founder and principal of Altius Financial Advisors, LLC. He formed Altius in 2001 because he wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of his clients by giving them excellent advice and managing their investments with care and skill.

Until March 2001, Mehmood was Vice President and Assistant Treasurer of Fannie Mae, where he managed a team of 20 professionals. As Assistant Treasurer, he was responsible for a multi-billion dollar funding, derivatives, hedging and investment program.

Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Mehmood was a consultant for Radan Systems, Inc., a company that specialized in developing financial systems for government agencies. Before that, he was an auditor for G. Basu and Co., an accounting firm in India.

Mehmood has an MBA from Cornell University and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from St. Xavier’s College in India. He is a CFP® professional, a CFA charter-holder, a NAPFA-registered advisor and an Associate Chartered Accountant (India).

Mehmood lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with his wife and three sons. He is an avid sportsman and was a nationally-ranked squash player in the U.S. (no. 3 among amateurs in 1990), and in India (no. 8 in 1983). He coached the Cornell University Women’s Squash Team from 1983 to 1985. He enjoys movies, reading, jigsaw puzzles and watching Roger Federer play tennis.

Amy Mitchell, CFA
Amy Mitchell, CFA is a financial advisor at Altius Financial Advisors, LLC. She joined Altius in February 2015. Amy is responsible for assisting with financial planning and portfolio management for clients.

Amy will continue to manage the small business she founded in 2008. She provides bookkeeping and other services to a select group of consultant and non-profit clients.

Prior to starting her own business, Amy worked at the FDIC for 10 years. During that time, she served, in part, as a Senior Capital Markets Specialist in the Division of Supervision and as a Special Assistant in the Chairman’s Office. As a Brookings Institute Legis Fellow, Amy worked for one year on Capitol Hill in the office of a U.S. Senator.

Amy earned her BA with a concentration in Finance from Hood College, MD. She is a CFA Charterholder. She lives in Virginia with her husband and three children. In her free time, Amy enjoys cooking, reading and being outdoors with her family.

Jessica Riner and Rachelle Walley, Administrative Support
Jessica and Rachelle are responsible for providing administrative support to Altius via Jessica’s company, Consider It Done, an independent contractor and one of the premier virtual assistant businesses in the country that caters to independent financial advisors. Jessica and Rachelle work closely with Mehmood to develop systems and processes that make our office operate efficiently.

Jessica holds a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from Texas A&M University – Commerce.

Rachelle graduated cum laude from East Texas Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She majored in Mathematics with a double-minor in Computer Information Systems and Music.
